Beginner students will be introduced to basic principles of body placement and mechanics within the Kuchipudi dance form, as well as exercises to increase stamina and flexibility. Basic steps will be introduced (or continued depending on student level) and completed within the course of the semester. Importance will also be placed on learning of the Natya Shastra slokas that dictate the primary principles of all Classical dance forms.
We will be revising all the Steps and Jathis to get a complete command of all Kuchipudi Basics. In this process we will focus on improving our stamina, stage presence, movement texture and placement. This will result in the ability of absorbing and grasping choreographies very quickly.
These classes are scheduled for students who are struggling in class and need extra help to practice their new lessons.
These classes have been added to the schedule to learn the pieces which are in the July 2024 production repertoire. Only students who are invited to join this class can join this class.
This particular sequence will be announced only twice in a month
